Welcome to Medellín, the city of eternal spring! In this Ahead Recommends guide we take you through some of the places that make it special. Before you pack, keep a couple of things in mind so your trip goes perfectly.
Medellín has a metro and cable cars that make getting around easy. And it’s worth choosing early where to stay, based on your plans and budget.

Museo de Antioquia and Comuna 13
Start at the Museo de Antioquia, in the heart of the city, to learn its history through art. Then visit Comuna 13, a neighborhood that turned its past into a hub of street art, with murals that tell stories of resilience and hope.

Cerro Nutibara and Pueblito Paisa
For a view from above, head up Cerro Nutibara. There you’ll find Pueblito Paisa, a replica of a traditional Antioquian village that immerses you in the region’s culture.
Where to have lunch
After Pueblito Paisa, two classics for authentic paisa food:
Hatoviejo
Bandeja paisa, ajiaco, mazamorra and more traditional dishes in a rustic setting that feels like an Antioquian home.
Mondongo’s
Famous for its mondongo tripe soup and bandeja paisa, with more regional and national dishes.
Don’t leave without trying bandeja paisa, or the arepa antioqueña, the local take on the Colombian arepa.

Parque Arví
A few minutes from downtown is Parque Arví, a nature reserve with hiking trails, mountain-bike routes and panoramic views. You can get there by cable car.

Nights at Parque Lleras
Medellín comes alive at night. Parque Lleras, in El Poblado, brings together bars, clubs, restaurants and cafés with live music for every taste.
We hope this guide helps you explore everything Medellín has to offer. Live the #AheadExperience and make unforgettable memories!
